Position summary

A Senior Account Manager is assigned to manage and lead one or more client accounts within a business division. This
role oversees all aspects of project management and client service on the assigned account(s), proactively builds client relationships, and works effectively with the internal team to ensure the satisfaction of EPG clients through high-quality, multichannel project delivery, on time and within budget. The Senior Account Manager also has a lead role in generating business growth within their assigned account(s).

Key responsibilities

Project management and delivery
• Apply a thorough understanding of:
o Client’s overall strategic commercial/medical and communication objectives, and the healthcare market in which the client operates.
o EPG/client standard operating procedures (SOPs), and policies, compliance and Master Services Agreement requirements applicable to assigned account(s), directing account team members as necessary to ensure adherence to these and identifying any training
needs within the team.
o Governing pharma regulations applicable to the account(s) and wider industry standards.
o EPG products and services in order to identify how these can best meet clients’ needs.
• Brief account team members to ensure understanding of scope/client requirements for all projects, as well as roles and responsibilities within the internal team.
• Serve as a day-to day contact for client, alongside the account Scientific lead (and Program Support lead if present on account), liaising directly with client on service delivery as appropriate.
• Maintain oversight of project/program management across assigned account(s), collaborating with core account team members and with shared services, providing guidance and making decisions as necessary to ensure successful project delivery.
o Includes being prepared to directly undertake activities such as project management of key programs, project scheduling and coordination, status tracking, and administration in client-specific tools etc., as necessary for successful delivery
o Troubleshoot project delivery challenges and take independent action or partner with the Scientific lead and other team members, as necessary, to address these, escalating issues where appropriate.
• Lead preparation for and execution of project-related discussions with client. This may be via teleconference or, where practical and desirable, a face-to-face meeting.
• Work in partnership with the account Scientific lead(s) to ensure appropriate content development for deliverables.
• Take role of project owner, as well as oversees projects led by less experienced team members.

Account management and business development
• Maintain strategic understanding of client business and apply this, with input from senior divisional management as necessary, to provide client counsel.
• Actively develop and maintain own positive relationships with client team members, generating confidence in capabilities of the account team and EPG more broadly.
• Monitor client satisfaction with EPG service and delivery, and lead the internal team in addressing any issues raised by the client to ensure satisfactory resolution; manage communications with the client on these.
• Work in partnership with Scientific lead to monitor workflow and plan account resourcing.
• Apply a thorough understanding of client and EPG financial SOPs and best practice processes in all aspects of account financial management.
• Lead the ongoing financial management of assigned account(s), according to EPG and client SOPs, to meet financial goals.
• Provide required information for monthly account forecasting and participate, with senior Account Management team members, in account planning activities.
• Identify and pursue growth opportunities within assigned account(s), and participate in other divisional business development activities as requested.

Skills and experience required

Preferably educated to degree level* or
• Typically 4─6 years of prior experience in a
client-facing project or account management
role in a medical communications, or similar,
agency environment, including experience as
an account lead.
• Experience project managing complex
multichannel programs.
• Experience growing an account successfully.
• Experience mentoring others.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite (especially Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
