Positive Ageing Week is a UK-based initiative that celebrates relationships across age groups. This year’s theme, “Connecting Generations,” reflects a shared responsibility to make those connections stronger.

As healthcare communicators, our goal across generations is to improve health outcomes and quality of life. It’s our responsibility to shape messages that promote movement, good nutrition, and mental well-being, while also working to reduce the stigma around chronic illness so individuals can make informed decisions about their treatment and care.
Language choices play a critical role too. Terms such as “frail” or “burden” can reinforce negative stereotypes, so adopting person-first, empowering language that reflects capability and dignity across all ages is an important part of best practice.
Technology and access matter just as much. For clients, we’ve built platforms that accommodate low vision, reduced dexterity, and cognitive change. Through simple navigation and inclusive design, we make health information clearer and more accessible, instilling a sense of understanding and autonomy.
Innovation that brings generations closer
Advancements like AI, real-world data, and personalized medicine are reshaping care. Technology can also be used to inform insights and create connections and engagement across stakeholder groups.
We know that aging is a shared experience, one that spans families and communities. This Positive Ageing Week is a chance to amplify voices across generations, use language that unites rather than divides, and ensure that technology in healthcare communication strengthens understanding and inclusion for all.
At Envision, we challenge stereotypes and take a holistic view of health. We encourage intergenerational connections, dignity, and diversity in communications, actively support decision making, leverage innovation, and improve access to care to enhance outcomes and quality of life.
